Lawrence's latest hipster dining experience, located in Basil Leaf Cafe's old spot on 9thst street (but not their OLD old spot on west 6th), has big shoes to fill. But they pull it off.

We came here on a date night and didn't bother with a reservation. We got a table but we got a bit lucky as it was pretty full - it's not a big place. Though the table they gave us was not the booth we wanted. (I'll always complain about the table I'm seated at, it's just a tradition of mine).

The decorating and lighting was, unlike the resteraunt's cliche'd name, pretty damn cool. They definitely changed things a bit after Basil Leaf moved to Mass Street.

I ordered the lemon basil chicken udon. It was good but not that amazing. Good enough to bring the leftovers home. Logan got a fried chicken sandwich and I was wishing it was what I ordered. The bites she gave me confirmed it. But the most interesting and tastiest thing we ordered was the appetizer: Whipped Goat Cheese with Garlic Fry Bread. That was good!

Overall it was a good experience, but it felt a tad imitative.
